Since, we, the members of the First Baptist Church of La Plata, have committed 

ourselves to Jesus Christ, we agree with God's help through the guiding presence 

of His Spirit:

- We will read the covenant at least semi-annually;

- We will walk together in Christian love;

- We will show loving care and encourage and counsel one another;

- We will endeavor to maintain a Christ-like, forgiving attitude toward one 

  another;

- We will refrain from anything the Bible says is sinful, causes my brother to

  stumble, harmful to the body and mind, destructive to the family and community, 

  and dishonoring to the Spirit who lives in us;

- We will assemble faithfully for worship and fellowship and will pray earnestly 

  for others as well as for ourselves;

- We will train those of our spiritual family in terms of growth, service and 

  maturity in Christ;

- We will seek to lead others to faith in Christ and to encourage their growth 

  toward Christian maturity;

- We will share one another's joys and bear one another's  burdens and sorrows;

- We will hold high Christian standards of morality;

- We will discipline a rebellious member(s) in accordance with the Bible;

- We will maintain a faithful ministry of worship, witness, education, fellowship 

  and service;

- We will be faithful stewards of our resources and abilities in spreading the 

  gospel to all nations;

- We will be faithful and regular in tithing to this church;

- We will keep our total resources available for God's use and glory;

- We will as soon as possible after removing from this place, unite with some 

  other Bible believing church where we can carry out the spirit of this 

  covenant and the principles of God's Word.
