Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Snow has been in the news a lot this week, and there is an historical precedent for that. On this date 26 years ago, the infamous “Blizzard of ’96” began. We were living in Louisiana at the time but had traveled to the Washington, DC, area to visit family for Christmas. Meteorologists say that cold air from Canada collided with warm winds from The Gulf of Mexico generating a wind and snow event that caused large amounts of snowfall, snow accumulation, and snow drifts. What very few people know is that our two older children, Caston and Jessica, were responsible for the “Blizzard of ’96”; they were from Louisiana and had never seen snow before. Christmas came and went without any snow, so our children took their concern straight to the top: they asked God to make it snow; the “Blizzard of ’96” was God’s answer. God always hears and answers our prayers, but He does not always answer in the way we expect; however, sometimes God answers exactly how we ask and sometimes even beyond how we ask. In Ephesians 3:20, Paul writes, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…” Our children asked for snow and got more than they ever imagined. Learn this about prayer: pray, keep praying, and never stop praying!
