Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Did you hear about the two men from the Solomon Islands near Australia who were lost at sea last month for 29 days? They were traveling between islands when they got caught in a storm that pushed them out into the ocean. The battery in their GPS died, and they turned off their engine to save fuel. They had brought some oranges along, so that’s what they ate for the first nine days they were lost; after that, they survived on floating coconuts and rainwater. On day 29, they spotted a fishing boat and started their engine to reach it, but they ran out of fuel. Thankfully, the fishing boat spotted them, and they were rescued. The men told the press that they credited their survival with “our faith in God because we pray day and night.” They went on to say that, “because we prayed, God gave us this thought of constructing a device to sail…using paddles and canvas.” One could see the random occurrence of natural events, or one could see that God provided rainwater, coconuts, ingenuity, fishermen, and faith: exactly what these men needed to survive and declare God’s glory for their deliverance. We are to give glory to God in every circumstance and situation as did these sailors; I Corinthians 10:31 is clear, “Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do it all to the glory of God.”
