Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Today’s “Throwback Thursday” is from Thursday, September 24, 2020. Well it happened again: Jesus was arrested—this time in Russia: not with Roman soldiers but with armed police officers and helicopters. Known as Russian Jesus, this guy claims to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. He claims he is not God—but neither was Real Jesus, he would say. Just as Real Jesus was a carpenter before He became a teacher, Russian Jesus was a police officer before he lost his job and began his ministry. Real Jesus’ right hand man, Peter, was a fisherman, and Russian Jesus’ right hand man was a boy band drummer. Russian Jesus’ followers use a calendar that only goes back to 1961, the year of Russian Jesus’ birth; they also celebrate Christmas on January 14, Russian Jesus’ birthday. As far as Russian Jesus’ teachings go, environmentalism, veganism, and communism sum it up. Russian Jesus claims that God speaks only through Him, and that Real Jesus is watching us from low earth orbit. Can you say, “cuckoo?” The exact reason Russian Jesus was arrested is unknown, but I think the Russian government just wasn’t buying his story. The amazing and frightening thing is that Russian Jesus has many followers; they are absolutely convinced that he is the real deal. We shouldn’t be surprised; Real Jesus said in Matthew 24:5, “For many shall come in my name saying I am Christ and shall deceive many.” Real Jesus said it, and Russian Jesus is doing it.
