Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Nebraska is nicknamed the “Cornhusker State” because of the agricultural industry that uses 92% of its total land area. Nebraska is famous for the inventions of Kool-Aid and the 9-1-1 emergency system. Something for which the land-locked state is not known is its navy; however, Nebraska does have a navy known as “The Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.” Begun in 1930 as a way to honor notable Nebraskans, Nebraska’s governors are able to bestow admiralships on those that are deemed to be worthy. Specifically, admirals in Nebraska’s navy are those “who have contributed in some way to the state, promote the Good Life in Nebraska, and warrant recognition…” Since Nebraska’s navy has no ships or sailors, admiral is an empty title that is not recognized by actual navies around the world. Jesus has several titles none of which are empty. His most important title is “Lord” which is the Greek word, “kurios” meaning “God.” His second most important title is “Messiah” or “Christ” which means “Anointed One.” In Acts 2:36, Peter uses both titles together stating, “Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus whom ye have crucified both Lord and Christ.” Jesus, as God in the flesh, is the One God the Father has chosen to be our Savior. Jesus is no fake admiral: He is the Lord, God Almighty!
