Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. You are probably familiar with the farm-to-table concept, but how about road-to-table? The State of Wyoming now has a phone app to report roadkill so that roadkill can be harvested in a timely fashion. Rather than allow the animal to be wasted, once a driver has hit an animal, he can record the animal kill in the app so others can know about it, collect it, and eat it; anyway, after hitting a mule deer, what else does a driver have to do while waiting for the tow truck? Not only does this app help avoid waste, but it will save the lives of other scavenger animals who often endanger themselves trying to eat the dead animals alongside busy roads. Officials estimate that 6,000 animals are killed on Wyoming’s roads every year. Did you know that God originally created people to be vegetarians? Adam and Eve did not eat meat, because eating meat would require killing animals which would mean that death was part of God’s “very good” creation. Death came as the result of sin. God did not give people permission to begin eating meat until after Noah’s flood. In Genesis 9:3 , God says, “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you even as the green herb have I given you all things.” I like eating meat–even though doing so may be the eventual death of me. At least I’ll die happy!
