Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Did you hear about the woman in Tennessee who tried to use a $1M bill at her local Dollar General store? The astute cashier rang the police instead of ringing up the sale. Once the police arrived, the woman with the million dollar bill was questioned as to where she acquired such a large denomination. She said a local church had mailed it to her to purchase items to make into care packages for the homeless. While she could not remember the name or location of the church, I would think that a church who can afford to send $1M bills to its members must be quite large and must have a well-known ministry to the homeless. Just so you know, the largest legitimate US currency ever circulated is a $10,000 bill that has Salmon Chase on its face; Chase served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Lincoln during which he introduced paper money and put “In God We Trust” on our coins. A $100,000 gold certificate note was also printed bearing the face of President Woodrow Wilson but was never publicly circulated. Back to the million dollar woman: she was not arrested, but she is banned for life from returning to Dollar General…how embarassing! Sin is sinful even when our intention is to bring good from it. Stealing from the rich to give to the poor is still stealing. Lying on your taxes to have more money to give to ,missions is still lying. In Romans 3:8, Paul castigates those who say, “Let us do evil that good may come.” Live honestly, give generously, and let God find ways to provide for you and His church.
