Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Have you heard about the wild red fox attacking people on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC? No, not the guy who played junk man Fred Sanford on TV, but an actual red fox. Foxes are aggressively protective of their young, and this fox is behaving true to form. According to Fox News, this animal ain’t dancing the foxtrot–it is serious about those invading its territory. This fox isn’t a member of the Squad, it’s a member of the den. You’ve heard of the fox guarding the hen house? Well this fox is guarding it’s house and keeping legislators from their house: The House of Representatives, which incidentally happens to be full of silver foxes. Those attacked by this fox probably think it is crazy, and it is: crazy like a fox. Animal control finally caught the sly old fox, but they had trouble doing so—it seems they kept getting outfoxed. Jesus had something to say about foxes concerning Himself in Matthew 8:20, “…The foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man hath not where to lay His head.” Jesus called King Herod a fox in Luke 13:32; a man once called my older daughter a fox, and she was greatly offended—he merely intended it as a compliment from the 1970’s! They say there are no atheists in foxholes; while I understand what is meant, one can only become a genuine believer by grace through faith in Christ. Many soldiers have made verbal—even prayerful–commitments to God on the battlefield only to renege later on. Genuine commitment is proven over time. As Jesus said in Matthew 24:13, “But he that shall endure unto to the end, the same shall be saved.”
