Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. A farmer in Belgium was irritated by a large stone that was constantly in the way of his tractor, so he moved it seven and a half feet out of the way under a tree. Unbeknownst to him, when he moved the stone, he expanded his own country of Belgium and reduced the size of France. The inconvenient stone is actually a border marker between France and Belgium from an 1820 treaty. Moving the stone violated the 201-year old treaty and has now become an international incident. Most believe that if the farmer returns the stone to its original position, there will be no legal, criminal, or international consequences. The Bible has much to say about moving boundary stones which are called landmarks. Proverbs 22:28 states, “Remove not the ancient landmark which thy fathers have set.” Moses gets even more serious in Deuteronomy 27:17 when he writes, “Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor’s landmark.” This poor farmer just wanted easier access to his fields, but now he has to contend with lawyers, countries, and even God Himself! This concept is so important, that there is a variety of Baptists who call themselves, “Landmark Baptists.” Landmark Baptists have no use for other Christians; they believe they are the only ones who are saved. I’ve got news for Landmark Baptists: God doesn’t save Baptists—He saves believers. Are you a Baptist or a believer?
