Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Today’s “Throwback Thursday” is from Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Have you ever run out of gas before? I have run out of gas not only on the ground but in the air—neither scenario is good, but running out of gas in the air is much more serious. Running out of gas is on my mind because I just ran out of gas last night. When I arrived at the airport to pick up Xaris at 1130pm, the dashboard gas light came on; I had to wait about half an hour before Xaris emerged from the airport burning gas the whole time. When we left the airport, there was only 5 miles of gas left. Because we were on the airport access road, there were no exits or gas stations. When we finally exited the access road, I had to drive another six miles with zero miles of gas left to a well lit Sunoco gas station…that had closed an hour before I arrived. Yes, I ran out of gas at a gas station! That’s like starving to death at a grocery store or freezing to death at a blanket factory! Just as a car needs gas and a body needs food, our souls need fuel as well. Peter writes in I Peter 2:2, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby.” We fill up our souls with God’s Word, worship, and prayer. Make sure you never run out of spiritual fuel—pull up to one of God’s never closing stations every day and say, “Fill ‘er up, please!”
