Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. When you are ready to get engaged, how do you know when and where to “pop the question?” I have heard of many elaborate schemes, but let me tell you the most recent one that can only be described as “hot.” A couple was driving their rental car in Tennessee last Monday when they heard a loud pop. The driver pulled the car over to the side of the road, and the car burst into flames. The couple escaped without injury, but as they watched the car burn, the man realized his engagement ring was in the car going up in smoke. After firefighters extinguished the car, the renters were permitted to see what survived the conflagration; the man found the engagement ring still in the box untouched by the fire. He decided to get down on one knee right there and then and ask his girlfriend to marry him. She replied, “Here? Right now? Like the car just caught on fire are you serious?” The moral of the story is don’t go cheap: buy the extra rental car insurance and quality jewelry that can take the heat…literally. Human love and marriage is unique among all of creation. While there are animals that pair and mate for life, they do so out of instinct—not love. Marriage is an honorable institution established by God Himself; Hebrews 13:2 states, “Marriage is honorable in all…” Marriage has been and always will be one man and one woman for life. By the way, the girlfriend said, “Yes, Yes of course!”
