Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Airlines have always been careful about allowing weapons on airplanes, but ever since 9/11, everyone knows that virtually anything sharp cannot be brought aboard as a carry-on. That didn’t stop a man from Alexandria, VA, from trying to carry on 23 prohibited items last week which included knives, throwing knives, scalpels, a switchblade, and brass knuckles. Debbie tried to carry on her grandfather’s WWII bayonet years ago and was promptly busted; it turns out that 16” bayonets show up real clear on xray machines! Debbie also told a TSA agent at the Orlando airport not to open her suitcase because it would explode; she meant that it was packed too tight, but they interpreted her statement differently. Officials don’t know if this knife man had ulterior motives, or if he was just ignorant of TSA regulations. Most rules are put in place to protect us–not to hinder our freedom; in fact, this man could have taken all of his 23 prohibited items on the plane as checked luggage. God has given us His rules which He condensed into 10 easy to remember but hard to keep statements. The Ten Commandments were given to help us live the way our Creator intends: freely but responsibly. He made us, so He knows what is best for us. Following the Ten Commandments helps us to live the abundant life that Jesus promised in John 10:10.
