Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Today’s “Throwback Thursday” is from Monday, December 14, 2020. Did you see the video of the guy walking on the left wing of a commercial airliner in Las Vegas yesterday? This is an unusual activity at any time, but the plane was getting ready to take off! He walked across the wing and attempted to climb the wiglet, the tip of the wing that curls up. When his shoes kept slipping on the wiglet, he removed his shoes and socks but was still unable to climb the wiglet. Eventually, law enforcement officers approached him on the wing and he fell off the wing about 15 feet hitting his head on the tarmac and then getting piled on by police officers. This video has been viewed over two million times: so much for “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” We don’t know if the man was crazed, possessed, drugged, suicidal, or all of the above. Maybe he thought he was saving money by traveling in the super low-cost economy class section; I for one would not travel on the wing because there is no seating, no overhead bin storage, no flight attendant service, and it is too windy and cold. Man achieved powered flight about 120 years ago, but God invented flight long before that. God created both angels and birds with the ability to fly. I’m not sure how Jesus ascended into heaven, but the description in Acts 1:9 sounds like He flew; hear it again: “…while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” At the rapture, all believers will fly; don’t worry if you don’t know how to fly or are afraid of heights—you will have a new, perfect body that will have no fear or lack of knowledge.
