Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Gas prices have almost doubled since the last presidential election. Many factors have contributed the the unprecedented rise in the price per gallon—most of which are political. Vendors don’t see any end in sight to the rise: that’s why they are reprogramming their gas pumps to accept $10/gallon which means the pumps can actually go up to $99/gallon. I remember when gas prices rose back in the late 70’s; the gas pumps could only show up to 99 cents/gallon, so vendors overcame this problem by charging double what was on the screen. One time my brother filled his tank without realizing that he had to pay double the price shown. He did not have enough money to pay for the gas, so he left me at the gas station as collateral while he drove home to get the rest of the money. Surprisingly, the service station owner agreed to the deal; what if my brother had never returned? I would be owned by a gas station, and the whole trajectory of my life and ministry would have been inexorably altered! My brother did return as promised, and I was restored to my home and family. Jesus left this earth promising to return, and He left His indwelling Holy Spirit as collateral. Just as my brother returned, so will Jesus. When Jesus does return, living believers will be restored to their eternal home and family.
