Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. I like Leonardtown located in St. Mary’s County. It is a quaint town on the water that has several interesting stores and great pizza. Leonardtown hasn’t always been named Leonardtown, though. The first recorded name for the town was Newtown in the mid-1600’s. In the early 1700’s, a courthouse was built and Newtown’s name was changed to Seymour Town in honor of Maryland’s Governor, John Seymour. About 20 years later, Seymour Town was renamed to Leonardtown in honor of Benedict Leonard Calvert who was then the current Governor of Maryland. Had this naming trend continued, Leonardtown would today be called Hogan Town. Jesus has a name that has never changed and never will. Paul declares in Philippians 2;9 that Jesus’ name is above all other names. While Jesus has only one unchanging name, He does has many titles such as Alpha & Omega, Bread of Life, Bright and Morning Star, Good Shepherd, Great High Priest, Immanuel, King of kings, Lamb of God, Mediator, Messiah, Son of God, and The Word. The most important title of Jesus is, “I AM.” Jesus claimed to be “I AM” in John 8:58. “I AM” is the personal name of God, Whom Jesus claimed to be and is. We don’t just believe in a man, we believe in God Who became a man in the person of Jesus Christ.
