Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. The Miller’s and I are headed for Panama today on a mission trip. The IMB missionaries on site in Panama have warned us to be flexible due to ongoing public protests in that country. We are supposed to serve in the jungle, but we may end up serving in Panama City—or both. Panama is located in Central America just above Columbia, South America, and is most famous for the Panama Canal connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The phrase, “A man, a plan, a canal, Panama” is a palindrome meaning it reads the same forwards and backwards. Due to its unique location and geography, Panama is the only place in the world where you can watch the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean and set over the Atlantic Ocean. Edward Murphy, the creator of Murphy’s Law that anything that can go wrong will go wrong was born in Panama; I hope Murphy’s Law is not operating on our trip. While we don’t know what we will face and exactly how we will serve in Panama, we do know Who is in control of all things and peoples. Pray that lives will be touched, our missionaries will be encouraged, and that God will receive all the glory!
