Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. It was apparently a case of “Monkey See, Monkey Do” at the Paso Robles zoo in California. Dispatchers at the 911 center received a call from the zoo but were unable to talk to the caller before the call dropped. Dispatchers called back and texted, but there was no response. Operators then dispatched the police to investigate the origin of the call. Police arrived at the zoo and interviewed anyone there who might have placed the call, but all denied doing so. One primate suspect remained: a Capuchin monkey named “Route” who did have access to a cell phone that had been left nearby. The monkey did not know what she was doing, but Capuchin monkeys are known for their curiosity, and they love to push buttons. Our daughter did this same thing a few years back while we were traveling. Debbie gave her the phone to play with to pass the time, and before long there was a phone call from the 911 dispatcher asking what our emergency was. Wrong numbers, mis-dials, pocket calls, and other monkey business happen all of the time. The good news is that when we call God in prayer, we always get Him. Each of us has a direct line to heaven that never has a busy signal. The only problem with prayer that I see is our lack of using it. Let’s stop monkeying around and take the time to fellowship with God through prayer as we continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
