Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Earlier this morning was the launch of NASA’s Artemis I Space Launch System, the most powerful rocket in human history that produced 8.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff. Artemis I is an unmanned spacecraft that will spend 42 days and 1.3 million miles traveling to the moon, orbiting the moon, and returning to earth. Later Artemis missions are planned which will take humans to the moon and eventually to Mars. The last manned missions to the moon were named “Apollo,” so the next manned missions are named “Artemis” who was Apollo’s twin sister in Greek Mythology. The Romans called Artemis, “Diana,” and in Acts 19:34, in a protest of the Apostle Paul, the people of Ephesus shouted, “Great is Diana of the Ephesians” for two hours straight. Artemis is a very powerful and expensive rocket whose launch will certainly be impressive. As powerful as the Artemis heavy lift launch system is, God is exponentially more powerful. Consider that God created all that exists—excepting humans–with just His Word. God watched the Artemis launch along with the rest of us. I was impressed, but I doubt God was.
