Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. At last Saturday’s University of Miami football game, curiosity got the best of a cat, and it almost killed the cat, as the saying goes. In a situation that could be described as raining cats but not dogs, a black and white cat fell from the upper deck of the stadium and was clinging by its claws to some fabric; first one claw let loose and then the next which resulted in a freefalling feline. What could have been a cat-tastrophe was averted by “Old Glory,” the flag of the United States. A lady sitting underneath the cat unhooked her trusty American flag and got others to hold the ends of it to fashion a makeshift fireman’s trampoline. Yes, the frightened feline fell feet first onto the flag and was fetched by frantic football fans forgiving its fumbling and freeing it to forge its future. We don’t know how many of its nine lives this cat had used up previously, but it is definitely down one after Saturday’s incident. While the Bible does not mention house cats, it does mention a much larger cat: the lion. Both Samson and David fought lions, Daniel was cast into the den of lions, but the most famous lion in the Bible is Jesus, Who is called the “Lion of the Tribe of Judah” in Revelation 5:5. The first time Jesus came to earth, He came as a humble Lamb, the Lamb of God; He will return as a powerful Lion as which Revelation 19:11 declares He will “judge and make war.” Don’t trifle with Jesus—worship Him as Savior and Lord!
