Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. On this date is history, in 1873, 149 years ago, Levi Strauss patented “Improvement in Fastening Pocket-Openings” which we now call “blue jeans”: a work pant reinforced with metal rivets originally known as “waist overalls.” Strauss put up the money, but Jacob Davis actually invented the pant. Originally intended for the working man, blue jeans are now a ubiquitous fashion choice for everybody. Tough yet comfortable; durable yet stylish, blue jeans not only helped settle the wild west but the most avant-guard fashion shows around the world. Christians may or may not wear blue jeans, but we all wear something much more important: the righteousness of Christ. You see, God demands righteousness, but we have no righteousness of our own; therefore, Jesus Christ graciously gives us His own righteousness with which we are to clothe ourselves. II Corinthians 5:21 puts it like this, “For He hath made Him to be sin for us Who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” This way, when God looks at us, He sees His righteousness—not our unrighteousness. In this life, nothing fits like a worn old pair of jeans; in the life to come, nothing will fit except the righteousness of Christ!
