Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Music is a wonderful gift from God: singing, playing, and listening. Using music to glorify God is a wonderful way to return the favor to God, as it were. Our church will soon be resuming another opportunity to use music to glorify God: the choir. By definition, a choir is a collection of singers; in our case, it is a collection of singers who sing to glorify God. Our choir stopped when COVID started, but it is now time to start singing together again! God’s people are encouraged to sing throughout the pages of Scripture. The Bible is full of music; in fact, the entire Book of Psalms is a hymn book, and the Book of Psalms is in the middle of the Bible; now why would God put a hymn book in the very center of His Word? He obviously wants His people to sing! Choirs appear in both the the Old and New Testaments. According to Psalm 100:1, God requires his people to make a joyful noise; if you can do that, you are welcome to join the choir. There will be an organizational meeting of the choir this Sunday, January 16, after the late service to determine interest level and rehearsal times.
