Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. On this day in history, two years ago, the first COVID-19 case in the USA was diagnosed. Some guy in The State of Washington returned from Wuhan, China, and fell sick; ten days later, he recovered—but America still hasn’t. I remember watching Chinese people on TV wearing masks as they went about their daily lives and thinking that could never happen to us. Boy, was I wrong about that! The COVID situation has brought out the best and worst in people. The disease has revealed those leaders who are authoritarians, and those who are libertarians. Like most of humanity’s diseases, we are told that COVID-19 is here to stay, and we will just have to learn to live with it. Ultimately, disease does not come from a lab but from sin. Little did Adam and Eve know that when they sinned, they not only introduced eventual death into creation but also disease that would assist death in its grim duty. Let us allow the pandemic devastation to remind us of the perfection of heaven. There is no sin in heaven, so there is no sickness. Revelation 21:4 describes heaven like this, “And God shall wipe all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying; neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
