God’s Grace with Gary 12/8/21

Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Did you hear about the guy who was pulled over by police for driving without a rear license plate in Owings? While the police officer was checking the driver’s license and registration, it was discovered that the passenger had an active warrant for his arrest. While police attempted to arrest the passenger, the passenger evaded the officer and ran across the highway only to be hit by an oncoming car. Did no one ever teach this guy to look both ways before crossing the street? I’m reminded of God’s judgment as explained by Amos 5:19, “As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.” You just escape the lion only to get attacked by a bear; or you finally get home thinking you are safe only to be struck by a snake that slithered inside. In other words, there is no escaping God’s judgment for the sinner; however, believers have already escaped God’s judgment by grace through faith in Christ Jesus Who took upon Himself the judgment that we deserved. By the way, it turns out that the driver was guilty of more than just a missing license plate: he had drugs and drug paraphernalia on his person some of which was found in his right sock. The moral of this story is found in Numbers 32:23, “…and be sure your sin will find you out.”
