God’s Grace with Gary 2/9/22

Did you hear about the golden cube in New York’s Central Park that has the art world buzzing? An artist promoting a new cryptocurrency fashioned a 400 pound block of 24k gold in Switzerland and placed it in the park along with security guards. There is no writing or carving on it—it is just a block worth an estimated 11.5 million dollars! People have commented how unique and avant-guard the golden square is; I don’t find it artistic at all: it is just a shiny, expensive square. Squares are a basic shape that every kindergartener can identify and draw. While the artistry is questionable, the golden block reminds me of John’s description of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21:16 & 18 which states, “And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth…and the city was pure gold like unto clear glass.” John goes on to explain in verse 24 that the saved will be able to visit the golden city whenever they please. The key to visiting New Jerusalem is being saved. The saved are welcome in the city—the unsaved are not. Make sure you’re saved, and you will experience the eternal, golden city one day. The artist’s golden block was only on display for one day; however, Kraft Foods filled the void with its own version: a large yellow rectangle decorated like a box of Velveeta Cheese. Will there be cheese in the New Jerusalem? I have no idea, but as a fan of cheese, I certainly hope so.
