Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. So-called “Holy Week” began yesterday with Palm Sunday and will culminate in Easter Sunday. As we journey through this week, it is important to remember Who made this week holy: Jesus of Nazareth. Billy Graham points out in his “Wisdom for Each Day” devotional that Jesus lived in a small country and never went beyond its borders. As an adult, He was homeless. He rode on someone else’s animal, sailed in someone else’s boat, and was buried in someone else’s tomb. He never wrote a book. He never founded a college to perpetuate His teachings. He never carried a sword, never organized an army, never built a navy, and never had an air force. Yet, the words written about Him would fill innumerable libraries; His teachings have endured for over 2000 years; He founded an empire that still today consists of millions of citizens who would die for Him; and He is known as the king of Kings and lord of Lords. His resume is not impressive, but His results are! We know surprisingly little about this Jesus Whom we worship. Even John, one of Jesus’ Apostles wrote this about Jesus’ ministry in John 21:25, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did the which if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the whole world itself could not contain the books that should be written…” Jesus is already amazing, but the more we learn about Him, the more amazing He becomes to us.
