Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. A woman in Panama City, Florida is thankful for a bunch of strangers who made a human chain to rescue her from a rip current. The woman had rushed into the water to save a little girl from the rip current, which she did, then got herself stuck in the same rip current. A bunch of about 20 strangers on the beach made a human chain stretching from the shore to the woman and pulled her to safety. This is a great story with a happy ending about helping someone in need. We Christians are like this group of strangers linked together to reach a lost and dying world. People are drowning in sin and are in desperate need of rescuing. While only Jesus can rescue them, He has tasked His people with joining together as individuals and churches to deliver the message of rescue. As we witness individually and corporately, God uses our witness to administer His rescue of grace pulling sinners one-by-one not out of the water, but out of the fire. Jude 1:23 reminds us of this fact when it says, “And others save with fear pulling them out of the fire…” By the way, if you are ever caught in a rip current, you don’t need a human chain: just swim parallel to the shore until the rip current subsides.
