God’s Grace with Gary 8/12/22

Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. I’m not much into baseball, but there was a baseball first Wednesday night in Phoenix. Pittsburgh Pirates infielder, Rodolfo Castro, was sliding into third base during the 4th inning. As he was sliding, his cell phone came out of his pocket and fell onto the field. The player was unaware that he had lost his phone and even said after the game that he was unaware that he even had his phone in his pocket. Once he was safe on third base, the umpire pointed to the ground where Castro had dropped his phone. These phones are everywhere and always on. This player put on his uniform and put his phone in his pocket as a matter of habit. I am guessing that the next batch of seminary students to graduate will not bring a bible into our pulpits–just a phone with a bible app. This is not wrong–just different. As much as we like to be connected to each other, we should desire to be connected to God even more. Researchers say Americans spend 5 hours/day on average connecting on our phones. How much time do we spend in prayer connecting with God? Do we not pray because we don’t have time? Maybe we should spend less time on the phone and more time with God.
