Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Since 1967, pro-life Christians have gathered on the first Sunday in October to form a nationwide life chain to raise awareness of the value of human life in general and unborn babies in particular. The overturning of Roe v. Wade has not stopped abortion or made abortion illegal, it has only returned the issue to the states where it belongs. Babies in the state of Maryland are as in just as much danger as they were before Roe v. Wade was overturned. I participated in my first Life Chain last October standing along Crain Highway and Charles Street in La Plata holding two pro-life signs. Most of those driving by ignored the signs, many supported them, and only a few expressed disapproval. The Life Chain is a silent, prayerful stand for life. The Charles County Life Chain begins this Sunday at 1:45pm, and everybody is invited to join. All human life is precious, because all humans are made in God’s image. Bearing His image means each of us possesses infinite worth and dignity. Giving and taking of human life is the Divine prerogative; while God has given government the authority to take the lives of criminals, the taking of life is never to be an individual’s decision—even if that individual is the mother. Since life must be protected at all stages and at all costs, you are invited to take a silent stand for life this Sunday, October 2, in La Plata–or wherever you live.
