Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Even though it is cursed, God has created nature to care for itself. When people intervene, unintended consequences often ensue. For instance, introducing a non-native insect into an ecosystem to eliminate an unwanted native pest results in an abundance of the non-native species as seen with stink bugs and asian ladybugs. Down South, kudzu was transplanted from Japan to help combat the dust storms of the 1930’s but has taken over entire forests. The Bald Eagle, our national bird, was headed toward extinction due to multiple factors among which were human hunting; so lawmakers decided to protect the Bald Eagle. Thankfully, eagles are returning in force; however, that has created a new problem: eagles have found that picking off people’s pet cats and dogs makes easy hunting. An Alaskan man has found a solution for dogs: a jacket with protruding thin, steel spikes. When the eagle swoops down for the catch, it will be unable to sink its talons into the spikes saving the dog. This won’t work for cats, because cats fall over as if paralyzed when anything is put around their bodies. I know this, because as a child, I enjoyed tormenting my cat by putting my father’s blood pressure cuff around her. The cat would fall over then watch in disbelief as I pumped up the cuff. Anyway, nature is designed care for itself; people need to take care of our own problems, stop creating new problems, and let nature be.
