Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. A snorkler off the coast of Australia spotted a fish wearing a golden wedding band. The fish was not wearing the band on its finger, as expected, but around its body. Apparently, mullet fish nuzzle through the sand to find food; while nuzzling, a ring can slip over their heads and get stuck; the snorkler has seen this before. The ring was valued at over $1400.00. This is well-documented, photographed news; however, when people read the biblical story in Matthew 17:27 in which Peter finds a coin in the mouth of a fish in order to pay the temple tax, they say, “Impossible!”. Here’s the quote from Jesus, “…go thou to the sea and cast an hook and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money; that take and give unto them for Me and thee.” The temple tax was a half-shekel, and Jesus said the coin would pay for both His and Peter’s tax, so the fish coin was a shekel worth 30 cents by today’s standards. So a snorkler can find a $1400 ring on a fish, but Peter can’t find a 30 cent coin in a fish? Both sotries are true, but if I had to pick only one that was true, I would choose the Bible, God’s Word, which is truth without any mixture of error.
