Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Today’s Throwback Thursday episode is from Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Politicians of all stripes love to make laws that they do not apply to themselves giving rise to the old saying, “Good for thee but not for me.” Lawmaking during the corona virus pandemic is no exception. NYC’s mayor closed Central Park to his citizens but was caught strolling through with his wife. Michigan’s governor closed all hair salons but demanded a haircut for herself since she had to look good on TV. But I think the mayor of Tantara, Peru takes the cake. He violated his own lockdown order to party with his friends. When the police showed up, everyone scattered except the panicked mayor. For some reason, there was a coffin nearby, so he jumped in and pretended to be dead from Covid19. He got busted. Apparently, legitimate coffin occupants don’t breathe, and the mayor’s breathing turned out to be a “dead” giveaway! God’s commandments are universal applying to all of us—not just some of us. Even Jesus, God in the flesh, was obedient fulfilling the law rather than abolishing the law. God calls us all to be obedient to all for our good and His glory.
