Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. A few months back, I challenged folks from First Baptist to take their families to The Creation Museum and Noah’s Ark in Kentucky. I answered my own challenge this week. While I had been to both attractions previously, it is always good to review the evidence and have the accuracy of the Bible re-affirmed. My takeaway from the Ark on this visit was that there are over 200 flood myths from around the world, giving cultural evidence of an actual worldwide flood; however, the vessels described in these various myths have very different shapes and dimensions. How do we know that the biblical account of Noah is the original story? Faith is key, but scientific analysis of the different vessels shows that only one was seaworthy—Noah’s. God did not just command Noah to build an ark, God gave Noah specific instructions on how to build it. While Noah may not have known what kind of boat would be able to withstand the incredible forces of a worldwide flood, God knew, and He told Noah with specificity. Noah obeyed the command, built the ark, and saved the lives of his wife, his family and himself. We do well to obey God’s commands; in so doing, we will save our own lives and those whom we inspire to obey. Perhaps the simplest and most important command is found in Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”
