Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Today’s “Throwback Thursday” is from Monday, July 27, 2020. There’s good news for pizza fans out there. A recent study showed that overeating pizza has no detrimental health effects—as long as the overeating is only done occasionally. The study in question had participants eat pizza until they felt full then had them eat twice as much more. Pizza is an amazing food: when it’s good, it’s really good; and when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. I love pizza. When we have pizza, I will eat a normal amount—maybe three or four pieces. If there is pizza leftover, I will eat two or three more slices. After the meal is over, I will come back an hour or so later and eat two more cold slices. In the morning, if there is still pizza in the box, I will eat two or three pieces for breakfast. Since we don’t have pizza very often, for obvious reasons, this study shows that my overeating is doing me no long-term harm. While the Bible condemns gluttony, occasional overeating is not gluttony, but moderation and self-control are to define the Christian lifestyle—including our eating habits. Had I known this study was being conducted, I would have volunteered to be in it—for the sake of science. I wonder what we’re having for dinner tonight? I’ve got a sudden hankering for pizza.
