Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Today’s “Throwback Thursday” is from Tuesday, August 4, 2020. I have heard of cat burglars but not cat smugglers—until this week. Fat cat drug dealers have found there is more than one way to skin a cat, so they are training ordinary animals, like cats and birds, to smuggle drugs into prisons. Apparently, prisoners can’t wait to see what the cat drags in thinking that drugs are the cat’s meow. I read of a trained cat that smuggled heroin and phone SIM chips into a Sri Lankan prison in its collar. The crime was not purr-fect, because the cat was caught and incarcerated—law enforcement was obviously not pussyfooting around; however, when the prison guards came later to feed the feline, it had escaped; you might say that the cat had been let out of the bag and is now on the lamb where it and the authorities will be playing cat and mouse. This was no scardey cat, and, now that it has escaped, there will certainly be copy cats to follow. Who knows? After a quick cat nap, the feline smuggler may go right back to its life of crime. The Bible doesn’t mention cats, I don’t like cats, and I especially don’t like this One Call I wrote filled with cat phrases; however, I do have great respect for cats. God’s design in cats is apparent and amazing. Cats are great acrobats, explorers, and hunters. Sadly, my family lost 2 cats during our recent move to Maryland. Cats may have nine lives, but each of us only has one: let’s make our one life count for Christ.
