Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. I took some friends from Pennsylvania on a night tour of Washington, DC, on Saturday. They had all been to DC before, but had never seen all of the government buildings and monuments lit up at night. I don’t mind DC at night, because there is little traffic and none of the politicians that irritate me are actively working to make my life more difficult or curb my freedoms. The buildings stand silently and majestically as they symbolize the inspired ideas of our Founding Fathers. The Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the White House each represent the three of our government that the Founders envisioned to protect us and our rights. The branches have not always acted in the way our Founders intended, but the system they left us is an ingenious design and does work. Washington, DC, is an important city to America and to the world; however, one day Washington DC—and every other city in the world—will take its place behind Jerusalem where Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords will rule and reign for a thousand years. The millennium will fulfill all of God’s Old Testament promises and prophesies about the earth in general and the land of Israel in particular. Will Washington, DC, have a role to play during the millennium? I don’t know, but if it does, under the righteous reign of Jesus Christ, it will operate much differently than it does now.
